Excitement in Wisconsin by Louise Lovdahl, Kenosha, WI, USA

In May it was announced that several graduates of the Woman Within Training Weekend (WWTW) are excited about re-energizing and rebuilding a community of women in Wisconsin.  Informational meetings were held in Madison, Random Lake and in Wauwatosa to share ideas, consider priorities and gauge interest.  About 20 women attended the meetings and responded with “Yes, let’s do this!” 

The backyard meeting at Carol Kahn’s home in Wauwatosa included a warm circle of women gathered around a fire, enthusiastically planning the next steps.  Discussion topics included determining a name for the group, recruiting volunteers who can help with the process to incorporate and gain not-for-profit status, fund raising for scholarships, communication tools and fun community building events. 

In order to spread the word about the new Wisconsin organization, women will be going to their own Empowerment Circles to spread the good news and to administer a short survey concerning what women would like the new Wisconsin organization to include.  Other Wisconsin WW grads can expect a contact via phone calls, emails and mailings.

It was determined that the first social gathering for the Wisconsin women will be held on Sunday, October 12th from 3 – 5 pm at Still Point Zen Center, N1811 Knorr Road, Random Lake, WI 53075. RSVP to Penney Johns at nickay54@earthlink.net Following the social gathering there will be an open circle from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.  All women are invited to attend.  This is a great opportunity to bring along a friend.  Please bring drums, rattles or your favorite instrument.
