Hi my name is John Thomas and I’m a New Warrior. I have an idea for a completely new kind of singles matching event, one that would be exclusive in that it would match up single Woman Within to single New Warriors. I’m putting this event together for many reasons; partly because I want to create community and raise funds for us, partly because I want to see a creation of mine come to life and find high quality matches for other singles, and mostly because I want to participate in this event and hopefully find my beloved. After reading this I hope you want to come out for a unique and different opportunity to find a match by speaking to who you are and hearing single New Warriors speak to who they are. It’s all happening at 7:00pm on Saturday, March 8th at the New Warrior’s Kuempel Center at 1900 W. Fulton in Chicago. Here’s an idea of what the evening will look like:

There will be a limited number of Woman Within and MKP New Warriors, maybe 20 or 25 of each. The women will be seated theater style in the great room while all of the men will be in a small room in the back. One of the men will then be escorted to the front of the women where he will have a set time (perhaps 3 to 5 minutes) to share whatever he wants to share. This is his time to show you who he is. He may share a piece of his heart, his desires, a story, a joke or a song. When his time is up he will be escorted out and the next man will be escorted in for his few minutes. This will repeat until all of the men have had a chance to speak. While the men are speaking the women will be keeping track of which men resonate with them on their match cards, which will be supplied. The women can choose up to three men or no one if none are appealing.

Now it’s the women’s turn to speak. The men sit in the great room theater style and the women are in a back room being escorted in one by one for their time to share while the men choose up to three on their match cards.

After all the sharing is done people can leave if they want or they can hang around for an optional mixer that will last half an hour or so. Before leaving, everyone will turn in the match cards with their choices, and the cards will be evaluated after the event. If you choose a man because he resonates with you and that man has also chosen you, the two of you will be matched. Again, it would be a match only if two chose each other. You both would be notified via email sometime the next day that you were a match. You would then be free to correspond however you saw fit.

If there were 2 or 3 total matches for the evening I would call that a huge success. The point of this event is not to match everyone up, but to have only a few matches that are of extremely high quality. I plan on hosting these events once every month or two. This way if people don’t get matched the first time they will be able to come back and try again.

As I mentioned earlier I plan on participating in this event myself, but the thought of sharing myself like this to a group of women scares me. So why do I want to do it? Because no woman I’ve ever met by any other means has been the one I wanted to spend my life with. I tell myself that 3 to 5 minutes of scary sharing to a group of women I don't know is a small price to pay for the possibility of a lifetime with my beloved.

But then I’m still scared. So I remind myself: This is not some random group of women I’ll be sharing myself to. These are Woman Within. They are not strangers to sharing their truth, just like me. They are initiated and doing their work, just like I am. They can understand my fear just as I can understand theirs. And with that two words jump out at me: Truth and understanding. This is what I find so appealing about this event; every match that comes from it will be based on mutual truth and understanding. I can’t think of any better foundation on which to build a relationship. Can you?

Where the money goes: Every penny of the $15 cover charge will go directly to the MKP and WWI communities. The money will benefit MKP Chicago with a percentage going directly to the Woman Within scholarship fund. A small percentage may go towards materials and refreshments for the evening.

For added safety during this event the parking lot at the SE corner of Fulton and Wolcott (across from the center) will be reserved for female drivers only. I hope to see you on March 8th!
