Woman Within:
Beginnings by Char Tosi with Edna
Wilson
In 1983, Rich and Char Tosi enrolled
in a course for couples in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Before the course began, Rich decided he must leave
the marriage for a while and find out who he was.
So, in an effort to cancel out of this course, Char
called the teacher of the course and shared her
dilemma, and therefore would not attend. Now the
teacher, being a wise and experienced man, said to
Char, "You will always have a relationship,
regardless of whether you live together or not, so
this course just might help you figure out what that
relationship will be at this time."

Some Thoughts Upon Finishing
A Book by Alyce Barry
I recently completed a project I've worked on for
the past seven years: a book about Shadow Work.
After something like eighteen drafts, I finished the
last chapter of the final draft in March. The book,
titled Shameless: Life Beyond the Box, will be
published this summer by the small press I've
started, Practically Shameless Press.
Since completing the manuscript, I've been wanting
to write about what the process has been like, but it's
felt a little overwhelming.

Judy Mills: My
Journey with Breast Cancer by Judy Mills
Dear family and friends:
So many of you have expressed your care and concern
since my breast cancer diagnosis, and I am grateful.
You have also said “keep me posted”. This is my way
of doing that. I’ve made a group list so that I can
send one email to all, since I expect that my
fatigue level will increase with chemo. I can’t
imagine how I can be any more fatigued than I am now
. . . but we’ll see. I know that when people I
care about have on-going illnesses or problems I
want to know how they’re doing.

Donna Greene: Nature Photographer
When I was growing up, a strong appreciation for
nature was highly encouraged. My grandfather would
try to point out constellations to me (I couldn’t
always see them . . .). We’d sit on their big front
porch just to experience a good summer thunder storm.
My parents would take us on family vacations to see
all manner of beauty in nature, from the Rocky Mountains to the east coast:
all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
My earliest childhood memories include my dad’s
enjoyment of photography.

So much to Celebrate!
by Pam Kehoe
I did my Woman Within Training Weekend in
December of 02, on the beautiful Lake Michigan
grounds of the Dekoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin.
It was cold, snow covered, absolutely beautiful and
still. A Warrior from Milwaukee had consistently
given me brochure after brochure and email after
email announcing the upcoming weekend trainings. My
50th birthday weekend approached and I thought “Why
not? If I stay in town they will throw some black
laden, ridiculous party for some old person. That’s
not me!” So off I went committing to attend on just
the Wednesday before the weekend. What was I getting
into? A nice little spa weekend away alone? Hardly.

Last Words: "What are the shadow aspects of this web? Because of our history as women, it’s
sometimes very difficult to work together as a team. The destructive aspect of
eating each other alive has been present in this community . . .
When we each embrace our shadow, we begin to know what
community is about. " Char Tosi

Natural Poetry
As the winding staircase snakes over the rails
My poem sloughs off me – naturally-
A by-product of breathing
No ‘to-do’, no fanfare-
It just falls off me to find its way in the world
Me, I am content knowing it may not return,
Knowing it may land on the mother juggling her child and
phone
On the train platform
I am not a martyr
It is no longer about that,
No longer about being recognised,
no longer trying to slyly let out a sweet secret
its just what I do -
what this being does –
my CO2, my poems, my skin
all fall away and renew themselves
as surprisingly as the hot air balloon
appears in the sky and as
naturally as morning
