Miguel and Barb Rath Voted New Multi-Culti Co-Chairs

On Sunday November 19th, 2006 Miguel and Barb Rath were elected as co-chairs for the Multicultural Council.

Miguel Rath was initiated in Bedford August 1998, and has been a part of the Multicultural Initiative since the original Multicultural Resource Team formed. He has served Mankind Project (MKP) and other communities as an Isms & Issues Presenter, a Bamboo Bridge Instructor, Coordinator for the International LKS meetings, and Coordinator of the inaugural Multicultural Council meeting in 2004.

Barb Mogollon de Rath was initiated in Flat Rock, IN in February 2000. Her formal Multi-Cultural (MC) training began at a co-sponsored OCL-103 in the Greater Washington DC Community, and she learned the model with Miguel after he came back from the MRT training. She was the 2nd woman to be blessed as an Issues & Isms Presenter, and has served for the past 2 years as the Multicultural Training Administrator for the Project. Barb is also affiliated with the Center for Creative Learning and the Bamboo Bridge, both co-gender trainings.

"Our vision for this term is to work closely with the delegate council in order to continue creating a strong container with structure that allows for some chaos to occur in preliminary MC dialogue as well as fostering the learning that happens as a result. Our intention is to promote a Council-wide mentorship program that will increase the skills of the MC Center Reps and grow the roster of I&I Presenters. We recognize 2 different phases occurring in this initiative: The first being the initial step of awareness and tools, and the second being the implementation through learning of those tools. We are all students in this, and there are some experienced facilitators in and out of the MCC that bring their skills into the MKP circle, increasing our overall awareness, furthering our tool kit, and complementing the Multicultural Initiative. We recognize those that wish to use other tools for more personal work as being congruent with the goals of the MCC's contribution to the MKP Strategic Plan."
