Bettina Madini: Earth Angel
Productions by Louise Lovdahl

|
Artist Bettina Madini sat on her porch
contemplating her recently completed acrylic painting,
“Rose of My Heart”.
She had worked on the painting for over two months after
receiving the healing symbol from her guides. Bettina
looked up to see a tiny hummingbird trying to feed on the
rose.
The hummingbird is known to be the symbol that reminds us
to find joy in what we do and to sing it out. In a recent
interview with Bettina I discovered that the symbolism of
the hummingbird is a fit with Bettina’s goal of bringing
joy into the world, pure joy of color, joy of life.
Born in Berlin, Bettina was a sensitive child who even at an early age listened to her inner voice. She loved to
sing and act but as she grew her parents encouraged her away from the creative arts to a career in economics and
business. After several successful years in the financial world, the need to create nudged Bettina back to
singing and expression through art.

Like the hummingbird who migrates thousands of miles,
Bettina left her secure job and in 2003 she journeyed
across the ocean to New York City to study at the National
Academy – School of Fine Arts. Bettina has been a part of
art exhibitions in Europe and in the US from New York to
Oregon
In the spring of 2005 Ro Getto and I visited “The Flower
Show” exhibition in Delafield, Wisconsin where we
discovered Bettina’s “Angel” series. We marveled at the acrylic shown
at the beginning of the article, “The Rose of My Heart”, which was painted prior to Bettina’s decision to do the Woman
Within weekend.
Bettina completed the Woman Within training in September of 2004 at House in the Wood. For Bettina the huge part of
the weekend was “connecting with the circle of women”. She said she “yearned for the connection without knowing it”.
Bettina is currently in two empowerment circles. In the area where she lives near Madison, Wisconsin, various circles
of women --- artists, shaman, dream journaling, drumming—connect and reconnect with each other making larger and larger
interconnections. Some women are involved in Woman Within and many are not and Bettina believes the desire to connect
and support/nurture one another is a part of all women.

"Flame of Transformation"
|
Bettina’s most recent healing symbol is the flame of transformation. Not only is this a painting but she has developed a
workshop and a retreat with the theme,
“Flame of Joy – Flame of Life” to help people get in touch with their creative side.
The retreat is for women only. According to Bettina, she “wants to help women find the goddess within . . . because I
realize how much we cut off the goddess in our womb.” She says “It’s important to be woman in our body . . . not to worry
about how that looks. It’s important to find our own colors, our song, to be ourselves in our temple and to celebrate it,
no matter what society says.”Bettina Madini

In addition to painting, singing, and creating workshops, Bettina also creates wearable art in the form of
beautifully textured shoulder wraps.
In viewing the shoulder wraps and Bettina’s paintings, you may catch a glimpse of the iridescent colors of the hummingbird.
